Namibia Launches $28M Youth Entrepreneurship Fund to Boost Economy

Namibia has unveiled a groundbreaking 500-million-Namibia-dollar (approximately $28 million USD) National Youth Entrepreneurship Fund, marking a significant step in the country's economic development initiatives.

Strategic Implementation and Financial Access

Finance Minister Ericah Shafudah announced that the fund will offer collateral-free loans with flexible repayment terms and reduced lending rates capped at 4 percent. The initiative, which complements growing private investment opportunities in Africa, will be distributed through multiple development finance institutions, including the Development Bank of Namibia, Agribank, and the Environmental Investment Fund.

• Support for 350 youth businesses
• Creation of 4,000 new jobs
• Regional balance in fund allocation
• Targeted support for women, rural youth, and persons with disabilities

Comprehensive Support Framework

Beyond financial assistance, the initiative includes comprehensive support measures, aligning with Namibia's innovative approach to economic transformation. The program features:
