WINDHOEK - A historic street procession led by women in uniform marked Namibia's commemoration of the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) on Wednesday morning, demonstrating the nation's continued commitment to progressive national development and leadership.
Unified Display of Strength and Purpose
The landmark event featured representatives from the Namibian Defence Force (NDF), Namibian Police Force (NamPol), Namibian Correctional Services (NCS), and City Police, showcasing the country's dedication to gender equality in security forces. This demonstration of unity follows other recent national achievements, including breakthrough successes in international representation.
"Today's procession has been a visible expression of unity, strength and purpose, led by women in uniform... women who flew the Namibian flag high and demonstrated that women are not only beneficiaries but active contributors to peace and security efforts globally," stated International Relations and Trade Minister Selma Ashipala-Musavyi.

Namibia's leadership role in advancing the WPS agenda has been exemplary, as it became the first African nation to adopt a National Action Plan on UNSCR 1325.
