Unam Ogongo netball team celebrates their historic victory at Grootfontein Secondary School courts

GROOTFONTEIN - The MTC Netball Namibia Premier League witnessed a dramatic transformation in its competitive landscape during rounds 10 and 11, as young talents from Unam Ogongo delivered stunning back-to-back victories at the Grootfontein Secondary School courts this weekend.

Youth Triumphs Over Experience

In a remarkable display of skill and composure, Unam Ogongo secured a nail-biting 45-44 victory against the seasoned Namibian Navy team, followed by an equally impressive 47-45 win over Tigers. Head coach Taapopi Sakupaula attributed the success to disciplined execution of training strategies.

"The girls are simply delivering what they've been working on during training. It's all about sticking to the plan and keeping calm under pressure," Sakupaula explained.

Standout Performances

The weekend's matches showcased several exceptional individual performances. Monica Gomases proved instrumental in Wanderers' victory against Unam Jaguars, while Afrocat Lions' Selma Bitler demonstrated remarkable leadership.

Player of the Match Honors

Namibian Correctional Service's Martha Shaampeni, fresh from the Southern African Development Community Games, earned consecutive Player of the Match awards despite acknowledging fatigue from the intense schedule.

Looking Ahead

As teams prepare for upcoming rounds, Unam Jaguars' Grace Matyayi emphasized the crucial role of fan support in maintaining competitive momentum. The league's dynamic shift signals an exciting phase for Namibian netball, with emerging talents reshaping traditional power structures.
