Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced revives one of the series' most rewarding stealth missions, and the quest A Single Madman serves as a benchmark for how well players have adapted to the game's rhythm. The objective is clear, but achieving a clean run demands patience, environmental awareness, and strategic decision making.

How to Start A Single Madman

After sailing to the mission location, grab the rope and swing into the water. Swim to shore and make your way toward the ruins ahead. Your target, Julien du Casse, is located to the north of the island. Reaching him requires working through the jungle first.

From the ruins, climb to the top to access the jungle area above. The path is largely linear, so follow it and keep moving forward.

Stealth Tactics in the Jungle

Once you hit the road section, switch to stealth immediately. Enemies wear yellow clothes, making them easy to identify, and their overhead markers help track movement. Take down the first enemy with a stealth takedown, then use a fallen tree to advance and eliminate the next one. Stealth takedowns keep things cleaner and quieter than using weapons.

Continue up the path to the waterfall area. Slide under the branch before it to get through, then climb the mountainside into the next jungle section.

Navigating the Tree Trunks and Upper Base

On the right side of this section, look for a tree trunk. Get onto it and use platform jumps to reach the upper area. Climb the next trunk, jump to the branch, and pull yourself up to the upper base. There are boxes here worth looting before moving on.

Follow the green marker ahead. The next area has a higher density of enemies, so use the environment to stay hidden, sneak through, and take them out one by one where possible.

Getting Through the Final Jungle Section

Run up the large tree above the hut and swing toward the bushes to avoid detection. The last jungle section has several huts with guards. Two ground guards patrol in a circular route around the large tree, giving you windows to move between the bushes. The key is to avoid engaging these three entirely. Use bush cover to navigate around them and move toward the exit.

At the jungle exit, two guards block the path. Getting past them without being spotted is not possible. Get close, let one notice you, then immediately run back into the bushes and hide. The guard will investigate. Wait for him to turn around, take him out quietly, then avoid the remaining guard and run straight out of the jungle following the green marker.

Reaching the Mansion Area

Platform through the trees ahead until you reach the mansion area where Julien du Casse is based. Head for the tree branches overlooking the compound. Wait until no one is looking in your direction, then dive into the bushes below. As enemies pass near the bushes, take them out as they approach. Move toward the northeast side and work through the nearby guards using stealth, clearing them one by one. While doing so, free the prisoners in the area.

The prisoners confirm that Julien is down at the docks. Head to the west side, use the upper wooden platform, and make your way to the tree trunk that leads to a viewpoint. From there, dive into the water.

The Docks and Taking Down Julien du Casse

At the bottom, look for a chest and open it to collect the Captain's Wheellock Pistols. Move toward the dock and stay underwater as much as possible to avoid being spotted by enemies on the surface. Shortly after, enemies engage with other NPCs in the area. Use that distraction to your advantage and take down the hostiles.

Near the ship, take out the guard by the dock quietly. A yellow-outlined door on the ship marks your entry point. Jump from the dock, scale up the side, and board the vessel. Make sure you are not detected at this stage or you risk triggering an ambush.

Once aboard, climb up the rafters to the top mast. Julien du Casse is up there. Reach him and assassinate him to complete A Single Madman main quest.
