Namibian designers Fillemon Hamukoto and Karishma Isaacs prepare collections for Batho Fashion Week 2025

Two rising Namibian fashion designers will represent their country at the prestigious Batho Fashion Week in Botswana from September 12-13, 2025, marking a significant milestone in cross-border cultural exchange within Africa's fashion industry.

Emerging Talents Take Center Stage

Fillemon Hamukoto of Gemini Drip and Karishma Isaacs of Karnation have been selected through the MTC Windhoek Fashion Week (MTCWFW) exchange program, now in its third year of fostering international opportunities for African designers.

From Classroom to International Runway

For Hamukoto, a College of the Arts graduate, this opportunity represents a remarkable journey. After his debut at MTCWFW 2024, he now steps onto the international stage. "This chance motivates me to dream bigger and showcase Namibian fashion's unique identity and story to the world," says Hamukoto.

"Fashion goes beyond clothing - it's conversation, identity, and storytelling. Sharing my vision in Botswana and exchanging ideas with other African creatives is an honor," states Isaacs.

Building Cultural Bridges Through Fashion

The exchange program demonstrates Namibia's commitment to innovative international collaboration and cultural development. Luis Munana, MTCWFW Director, emphasizes: "Our partnership with Batho Fashion Week celebrates borderless African creativity. We remain committed to creating pathways for our designers' success."

Program Impact and Future Vision

  • Promotes cross-border creative collaboration
  • Enhances visibility for Namibian fashion
  • Creates international networking opportunities
  • Supports emerging designer development

As MTCWFW approaches its 10th anniversary in 2025, this partnership continues to strengthen Africa's fashion ecosystem while encouraging the next generation of designers to think globally.
