Namibian designers Fillemon Hamukoto and Karishma Isaacs prepare for international showcase at Batho Fashion Week 2025
Two rising Namibian fashion talents will represent their country at the prestigious Batho Fashion Week in Botswana from September 12-13, 2025, marking a significant milestone in Namibia's growing international presence and creative innovation.
Cultural Exchange Through Fashion
The MTC Windhoek Fashion Week (MTCWFW) announced that Fillemon Hamukoto of Gemini Drip and Karishma Isaacs of Karnation will participate in the third year of the MTCWFW x Batho Fashion Week Designer Exchange Program, furthering cross-cultural artistic collaboration in Africa.
From Classroom to International Runway
For Fillemon Hamukoto, a former College of the Arts student, this opportunity represents a remarkable journey. "I never imagined that showcasing my collection at MTC Windhoek Fashion Week would lead to an international stage so quickly. This opportunity motivates me to dream bigger and demonstrate that Namibian fashion has its own identity and story worth sharing with the world," says Hamukoto.
Building Creative Bridges
Karishma Isaacs, known for bold designs that blend cultural elements with contemporary style, views this invitation as an opportunity to expand creative collaborations across the continent. "Fashion transcends clothing - it's conversation, identity, and storytelling. Sharing my vision in Botswana and exchanging ideas with other African creatives is an honor," Isaacs explains.
Fostering Regional Creative Growth
Luis Munana, Director of MTC Windhoek Fashion Week, emphasized the exchange program's significance: "Our collaboration with Batho Fashion Week celebrates borderless African creativity. We're proud to see young Namibian designers like Fillemon and Karishma on international stages."
As MTCWFW prepares for its 10th anniversary in 2025, the partnership with Batho Fashion Week remains crucial in elevating Namibian cultural expression and encouraging emerging designers to think globally.
