Polaris RZR Factory Racing Makes History With First Vegas-to-Reno Victory
Polaris Off Road and the RZR Factory Racing Team secured a landmark victory at the 2026 Vegas-to-Reno desert race, marking the team's first-ever win at the legendary event. Driver Brock Heger piloted the No. T96 RZR Pro R Factory to the UTV Overall title, completing the grueling 505-mile course in 7 hours, 51 minutes and 29 seconds.
The win carries extra significance as the 2026 edition marked the first time in the race's 30-year history that the course was run in reverse. Heger's performance was not only dominant within the UTV class, but also remarkably competitive against the entire four-wheel field, finishing seventh overall among all vehicles, including the Unlimited Trophy Truck class.
How did Brock Heger win the UTV class at Vegas-to-Reno?
After qualifying second by just over half a second, Heger quickly moved to the front of the UTV field. He navigated high-speed desert terrain, extreme heat, rocks and dust, steadily building his advantage. At one point, he stretched his lead to over eight minutes on corrected time before securing the UTV Pro overall victory by nearly four minutes.
Heger's seventh-place overall finish is particularly notable given that he competed against purpose-built Unlimited trucks with substantially more horsepower and outright speed. Despite this disadvantage, he finished ahead of the vast majority of the four-wheel field.
What did the team say about the historic win?
Vegas-to-Reno has been one of those races we've wanted since this team started, so to finally get it done is huge. This race is incredibly demanding, and over the 500 miles there are so many opportunities for something to go wrong. The RZR Pro R Factory performed flawlessly, and the team gave us everything we needed to get the job done today. To get the win and finish seventh overall against all trucks makes this one special.
Alex Scheuerell, Polaris' Director of Off-Road Motorsports, echoed Heger's sentiments, emphasizing the significance of the achievement against the broader field.
Winning Vegas-to-Reno for the first time is an incredible milestone for Polaris and this team, but what Brock accomplished against the entire four-wheeled field makes this performance even more impressive. Finishing seventh overall against the Unlimited Trophy Trucks speaks volumes about Brock's ability, the preparation of this team and the capability of the RZR Pro R Factory.
What does this victory mean for Polaris RZR Factory Racing?
The Vegas-to-Reno win adds another marquee title to an already impressive list of accomplishments for Heger and the team. Polaris captured six of the top-ten finishes in the UTV Pro overall, demonstrating the performance and durability of the RZR Pro R Factory across the world's most demanding off-road races.
Teammate Ethan Groom also contributed to the team's strong showing, driving the No. T74 RZR Pro R Factory to a fifth-place UTV Pro finish.
What's next for the RZR Factory Racing team?
The team will return to Mexico for the Baja 400, scheduled for September 8-13, as it looks to build on its success in the SCORE Desert Series.
